We Treat

Children with Autism

According to data supplied by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the autism spectrum rates have increased. A 2016 report states, "About 1 in 59 children have been identified with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)." One in six children in the United States have a developmental disability ranging from mild, such as speech and language impairments, to severe, such as cerebral palsy and autism. This growing problem in our country is disconcerting.

Autism is a broad term that encompasses such a vast array of symptoms that there is no one-size-fits-all plan for parents to follow. With more therapies out there than there are hours in the week and dollars in the bank account, parents are desperate to find something that works for their child.

I am often asked by parents, "What can chiropractic do for my child with autism?" My answer is to point out that the child is the sum total of all his/her parts. If one wheel of a cart fails to function properly, it effects the whole cart. The goal of chiropractic is to bring balance, harmony, and alignment to the whole body, allowing the body to heal.

Typically, chiropractors perform spinal manipulation to improve nervous system function and attain optimal health. Spinal adjustments are helpful for all patients, regardless of whether they are on the Spectrum or not. That is good news, but now there's more...

Those who suffer with Autism will be happy to learn that about ten years ago a new cranial manipulation was developed, called Cranial Adjustment Turner Style (C.A.T.S.), which has been very effective in the treatment of those with learning disabilities, ADD, and Autism.

To briefly explain, there are 22 bones in the skull that can move in six different directions. A C.A.T.S. adjustment realigns the bones and releases pressure on the brain. Specially trained C.A.T.S. Chiropractic Practitioners adjust the cranial bones, bringing about dramatic results.

Dr. Howard is one of only 1,100 specially trained C.A.T.S. Chiropractic Practitioners in the world. Read more for additional information on applicable conditions and documented results.
